National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
Training tailored for business success |
|

NVQs are government funded, nationally recognised qualifications based on the
assessment of a candidate’s competency in key skills relevant to their job and are suitable for a wide range of organisations across a diversity of sectors.
They are highly regarded by employers as they show that individuals have the expertise and knowledge which benefit the organisation.
NVQs also enable candidates to
develop work-related skills
which they can carry with them from
job to job, leading to a potentially
more fulfilling career.
Unlike many providers, CPD delivers tailored NVQs to meet the individual needs of both the organisation and the employee. We specialise in a number of areas including:
- Children’s Care, Learning & Development
- Foundation Modern Apprenticeships
- Health & Social Care
- Management
- Modern Apprenticeships
- Modern Skills Diploma
- Registered Managers Award
- Team Leading
NVQs benefit individuals by:
- Developing skills and knowledge in business critical areas
- Improving employment prospects and chances of promotion
- Developing understanding of the
organisation and their role within it
- Enhancing their CV
- Building confidence
- Improving working practices
NVQ Funding
Most NVQs are fully government funded so there is no charge to the employer or the employee. To receive NVQ funding candidates must fulfil certain criteria such as being in a full-time role, being over 19 years of age and having been resident in the EU for at least 3 years with a permanent NI number. Individuals will need the permission and support of their employer.
How an NVQ Works
NVQs are achieved through work-based competency assessment and training
- there are no tests or exams
- and can be incorporated into existing induction or development programmes.
They comprise a number of skill focused units - which we can tailor to meet the specific needs of the organisation and individual
- and incorporate 4 workshops lasting approximately 4 hours, with candidates completing an additional 4-5 hours of work in their own time. Higher level NVQs take longer to achieve, however many can be completed in 3-6 months.
Whilst NVQs are essentially
work-related, competency based
qualifications, they are generally
viewed to be equivalent to: Level 1
- 3 to 4 GCSEs Grades D to E, Level
2 - 5 GCSEs Grades A to C, Level 3 -
2 or more A Levels, Level 4 - HND/Ordinary
Degree.
How CPD Works
Our core aim is to deliver the maximum benefit
to the candidate and the employer, but with minimum disruption to the workplace.
After detailed consultation with the employer, we make a full assessment of potential candidates’ skills and put together a package of NVQs
tailored to the needs of the organisation and its employees. We provide a
dedicated, professionally qualified assessor who will offer candidates all the help and support they need to
successfully complete the course.
CPD will take care of all assessment, evidence gathering, paperwork and funding support leading to final external verification and certification by the relevant governing body. We can even organise an awards ceremony to ensure candidates receive the appropriate recognition and to encourage other employees to undertake an NVQ.
