Health & Social Care NVQs
As part of our training portfolio, CPD
offers nationally recognised Health & Social Care NVQs
tailored to the needs of both
the employer and the individual.
NVQ Level 2
The Health and Social Care Level 2 qualification is about direct care, focusing on hands-on care, enablement care and the development and maintenance
of clients’ independence. Candidates will usually be delivering care in support of, and under the direction of, a colleague who is accountable in the area of practice, although this person may not always be in the immediate vicinity while the candidate is working with clients. This qualification will include supporting the care, protection and wellbeing of individuals, communication and record keeping, supporting individuals in daily living and personal care, working with carers and developing working practices.
NVQ Level 3 (Adults and Children & Young People)
The Health and Social Care
Level 3 qualification is about
the delivery of physical,
emotional or enabling care to
clients/service users. Candidates will usually be delivering care in support of, and under the direction of, a colleague who is accountable in the area of practice, may often be working without direct supervision or on their own, will have a degree of responsibility and autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within agreed boundaries. This qualification will include promoting and maintaining the care, protection and wellbeing of individuals, assessing and developing care plans, supporting individuals to live in the community, managing challenging behaviour and working with families and agencies.
NVQ Level 4 (Adults and Children & Young People)
The Health and Social Care Level 4 qualification is about the management and delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clients/service users. Candidates will be managing and delivering care in support of others and will be accountable in the area of practice;
they will have autonomy and will be required to make decisions within agreed boundaries. This qualification will include managing the delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to service users, developing methods and systems to communicate, record and report, developing and maintaining health and safety practices in the workplace
and developing practices to promote the wellbeing and protection of all individuals.
Leadership and Management in Care Services (LMCS) is the qualification that has replaced the Registered Managers Adults and the Managers in Residential Child Care awards. LMCS gives an option of choosing different units according to whether you work with young people or adults.
